What's Up Whistler - June 22

Run Comfy Numb Race - Sat June 25th
It’s that time of year again! The Run Comfy Numb Trail Running Race is back and with a new 50 km race added to the roster. Along with the classic 25 km course, running along an internationally recognized mountain bike route, they’ve now given a 50 km option along the sea2sky trail for people looking for that extra numbness in their legs afterwards. The race is this Saturday and still has spots left for the 50 km race. For registration and more info click the link below.

DH BC Cup - June 25 to June 26
This weekend the Whistler DH BC Cup will be held in the whistler bike park. Multiple age categories will be competing along with different ability groupings. Seeding will start on June 25 and the race on June 26. Come out to watch the last section of the course at the base of Whistler, or walk up a few stairs to get a great patio view from the GLC.

Farmers Market
The amazing Whistler Farmers Market has been moved back to its home, in the Upper Village at the base of Blackcomb. Every Sunday (and long weekend Saturdays) the walking strip from the Fairmont Chateau to Merlins bar is lined with local vendors selling anything from maple taffy to gorgeous ceramics. It’s a super fun weekend activity and a great way to support small local businesses. I definitely suggest trying the snow cones and wood oven pizza, before playing a round of mini golf beside the base of Blackcomb. Click the link below for more info about dates, times, and vendors.

Blackcomb Ascent trail
The multiple Burn Ascent trails up Blackcomb mountain are definitely a bucket list item. The trail mainly runs through old growth forest heading upon to the top of the Blackcomb gondola, but of course there’s always the option of downloading halfway up at mid station. Don’t forget to purchase your download lift tickets at Whistler Blackcomb guest services before starting the trek up. Click the link below for more info on the trail.

Summer Bobsleigh
Thanks to Whistler being a huge part of the 2010 Olympics, we have an amazing sliding center and track. During the summer they open up to the public for tours and going for a ride in a bobsleigh (with a trained pilot). They run this program rain or shine so it’s the perfect thing to add on the bucket list this summer. First day will be june 25 and will be open Wednesday - Sunday, until September 4. River of Golden Dreams
Definitely a Whistler favourite, the River of Golden Dreams runs through the town and has many pullout stops and mini beaches. You can take SUP, kayaks and even canoes down the river, or the classic blow up loungers. This is the perfect hot summer day activity with the chilly glacier river right beside you to dippin and cool off. Or if you’re just looking for a place to sit by the water, Meadow park is definitely my favourite, and it has a gorgeous view of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
